The Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) has expressed it’s support for the passing of the Accessible Canada Act. However, that doesn’t mean the union wouldn’t like to make changes. PSAC has observed that the act overlaps with an already existing piece of legislation, the Employment Equity Act, which requires employers to “create plans” to eliminate obstacles to accessibility. To have these two acts work together, PSAC has made nine recommendations to the House of Commons, which you can read here in their official submission.

We believe that Bill C-81 is an important bill for all Canadians. We strongly urge all of you who care about seeing barriers eliminated across our country to contact your local MP, and make this bill a reality before the next federal election.
