All assistive listening technologies require 3 things, an audio source, a means of transmitting this audio wirelessly and a receiver to receive the wireless signal. The audio source can be a microphone, PA system, or even the audio from a television.
Until now, the three most widely used assistive listening systems were: Induction Loop, RF Systems and Infrared Systems. The new assistive listening technology on the market is Bluetooth LE with Auracast™, broadcasting Bluetooth audio from one transmitter to many.
All four listening system technologies have their uses, but it is important to understand their pros and cons before selecting the system that is right for your needs.
